I’m Olivia Tracy

Allow me to introduce myself further…

I got my bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science at Penn State University

I became a registered dietitian on passing my boards exam during my first attempt in September 2021

I completed my Dietetic Internship through Tulane University, while living in New Orleans

I completed a Sports Nutrition Fellowship with Drexel University, working with their university team and athletes as well as the Philadelphia Union

I’m currently working with the Philadelphia Phillies organization and teams

I am also currently studying to become a CSSD (Certified Specialist in Sports Nutrition)

All the while, I’ve been following my own journey to health and wellness by exploring all types of food that nourishes me (I love to use this as an excuse to travel) and experimented with various forms of moving my body. For the past two years, I’ve embraced CrossFit style workouts, although in previous years I’ve been known to take long runs, bike rides, and gone through phases of resistance training. On paper, it sounds like I’ve been the epitome of health my entire life right? I would’ve had you fooled.

When I was young, I was free and blissfully unaware of the physiological effects food can have on my body. I just enjoyed all the different kinds of flavors and textures it offered me. In my teen years, I became cognizant of how my food and exercise choices could make an impact on the way I looked. I started doing my own research and experimenting with my body on how it looks without carbs, then skipping breakfast entirely, replacing hunger pangs with caffeine, or loading up on gum/water to help meet my macros and calories goals, which were getting lower and lower by the week. Sweets were my vice and I had an all or nothing mindset. So, because I felt like I couldn’t stop myself at just one cookie or one piece of chocolate, I didn’t allow myself to have any. It sounds paradoxical, but because I knew I didn’t have the self-control when it came to palatable foods, I became all the more controlling. And thus, all the more deprived.

The all or nothing mindset is one that plagues many of us. But I want you to know that this is a lifestyle that doesn’t have to linger. You can build a relationship with food that not only satisfies your nutritional needs, your body composition goals, your strength goals, all the while feeling in control of enjoyable and nourishing foods.
